I’ve been terribly busy, to busy to cook, take pictures, eat and write about food. I managed the first three, but little time for the fourth.  Busy as I am, there is always time for tea. So here is a nice little video by Taiwan’s Jay Chou about tea, the title is 爺爺泡的茶 (ye ye pao de cha) “Grandfather Made Tea.”

Lyrics; (not translated by me)

ye ye pao de cha
The tea made by grandpa

you yi zhong wei dao jiao zuo jia
Has the flavour of home

lu yu pao de cha
The tea made by Lu Yu

ting shuo ming he li dou bu na
Heard that he didnt want fame and fortune

ye ye pao de cha
The tea made by grandpa

you yi zhong wei dao jiao zuo jia
Has the flavour of home
(echo: The tea made by grandpa, its taste and flavour are not bad)

lu yu pao de cha
The tea made by Lu Yu

xiang fu po mo de san shui hua
Is like a landscape painting in black ink

Verse 1

山泉
shan quan
Mountain springs

zai di biao wan yan
Flowing on the earths surface

cong hen jiu hen jiu yi qian
Starting from a long, long time ago

wo you yi zhang zhi qi de lian
I have a childish face

quan shui shen tou jin kuang guai yan
Spring water is absorbed into the mine layer

ye ye zai zhong de zhang mu shu miao shang mian
On top of the cedar wood tree seedling planted by grandpa

you ji de na nian
I can still somewhat remember that year

zai yi ge yu tian
On a rainy day

na qi sui de wo duo zai wu yan que yi zhi
That seven-year-old me was hiding in the attic, but really

xiang que dang qui qian
Wanted to play on the swing

ye ye chou zhe yan
Grandpa was smoking

shuo tang chao lu yu xie cha jing san juan
Saying that Tang Dynastys Lu Yu wrote three scrolls for the book on tea

liu chuan le qian nian
Been passed down for a thousand years

* (記得) 那天
*(chian nian) na tian
* (remember) That day

wo fan yue zi dian
I was reading the dictionary

cha shen me zi yan
Looking up some word

xing rong yi jian shi hen yao yuan
To describe a matter has long passed

天邊
tian bian
The edge of the sky

shi fou zai hai jiao dui mian
Is it across from the corner of the sea

zhi dao jiu sui cai zi dao lang fei shi jian
I know that when I was nine, I realized that I was wasting time

zhe cai zhuo zhang mu de heng qie mian
This tea tables cedar woods horizontal prints

nian lun yo er shi san quan
Has 23 tree rings

jing tou de ling yi bian tiao jie wo cheng shou de lian
On the other side of the lens, captures my mature face

jing kuo zhe xie nian
Going through these years

ye ye de shou chian
The callus on grandpas hands

pao zai shui li hui yo cha se man yan
When soaked in water, there will be tea color spreading
